Chromatographic separation media (resins/packings) are regarded as the“soul” of biopharmaceutical separation and purification. They are porous microspherical materials with specific pore sizes and separation characteristics, widely used in the field of biological separation and purification.
These materials play an important role in industries such as synthetic biology, biocatalytic enzymes, medical aesthetic proteins, functional foods and nutraceuticals, animal vaccines, hemodialysis, diagnostic enzymes and antibodies, and monoclonal antibodies. The separation performance of chromatography media mainly depends on the adsorption and desorption interactions between the components in the sample and the stationary phase.
During the chromatographic process, the sample is carried by the mobile phase through the packed bed of the chromatographic medium. Because different components exhibit different affinities toward the stationary phase, they undergo varying degrees of adsorption and desorption, thereby achieving separation.

The Polix™ series of macroporous polymer-based chromatography media provides additional options for biomolecule purification. It can be used in combination with agarose-based products to achieve optimal process optimization.
